Everyone should have a cause they believe in and contribute to. My heart has always had a soft spot for animals because they do not have a voice yet they do so much for us. Everyone should have a cause they believe in and contribute to. My heart has always had a soft spot for animals because they do not have a voice yet they do so much for us. It's a reality; four million cats and dogs lose their lives in shelters every year. The biggest problem is unwanted litters because pet owners do not spay or neuter their cats and dogs. Many people think they have nothing to contribute, but there are several things anyone who wants to help can do:
- Insist your friends, family, and colleagues alter their cats and dogs.
- Contact a local rescue and ask about what they need. It could be old towels and sheets or help at a weekend adoption event. One rescue near me needs volunteers to walk and play with the dogs.
- Be aware of political issues pertaining to animals and how your representatives handle them.
- Never be afraid to speak up when you see an pet in danger whether it is abuse, neglect, or otherwise.
- Know that every step you take means a mile for an animal. Your actions, as small as they may seem, matter in every way.
